This has been a very topsy turvy for me, it’s had some great highs but some devastating lows. This has been my most challenging year as a photographer, and as a person. This year started quite rocky in my personal life, and it took me till February to start getting things back on track. In February I reviewed Thy Art Is Murder, my first time reviewing a live show, and it was a really fun and interesting experience! I got to meet the guys and interview them, it was an awesome confidence boost, but then uni got in the way. For a few months, I was swamped with assignments and had very little time for anything else, hopefully if I learned anything, it’s how not to manage your time!
Thankfully in March, I found the time to shoot with one of my favourite people to photograph, Chelsea (Chello-Chan.) It was just what I needed at that time to give me a little push, working with her is an absolute pleasure, and that set is one of my best so far! Also in that month, I visited The Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham, the first of its kind that year, and it was fantastic. The whole day was really fun, educational and inspirational. I can’t wait to go again this year!
Whilst my facebook page was silent, I was busy working behind the scenes, also shooting a local god and working with a fashion designer at the university in March, and another in April! I also got to do my first proper studio shoot with Charlotte B in April which I am still very happy with, but this assured me I’m quite content shooting outdoors. Things were pretty silent again until after deadlines.
I started a new job in May so was kept very busy, throughout the summer I was battling mental health issues and coping with the end of a relationship. I ended up taking a year out of uni to focus on myself, and as such, I hardly picked my camera up for seven months, before getting my shit together and ending the year strong on two shoots with two awesome people, Sarah and Kerry!
Whilst this has been a very testing year, it’s only made me more determined to go out and smash 2015, next year won’t know what’s hit it! I’m here and I’m ready take life by the horns, and wrestle with anything life throws at me! To all the friends I’m taking with me into this coming year, you are amazing and I love you all!
